Hello! Welcome to my blog about failed, failing, and fragile states.  The aim of this blog is to explore what fragile and failed states are, how they are classified according to the Fragile States Index, and what states are currently consider to be failed.  Close examination of current failed states, including Somalia, Iraq, and Syria, will look at their histories, how alternative groups such as ISIS have come to power in them, and the threats failed states pose for global relations.  Additionally, I will consider the impact on these and other states of being labeled failed in terms of foreign aid and investment.  As a final topic, I will address Western responses to failed and failing states and how, potentially, relations could be conducted more effectively.
